"Entertainment industry it’s filled with uncertainness"

Nndivhaleni Netshiavhela: An Actress, Tv presenter, Content producer, Scriptwriter, Theatre director, Honors degree holder in Acting & Theatre director and a Researcher.

Over the years my life has been a roller-coaster; juggling between acting, presenting and content producing; I have written scripts for DSTV and have quite recently produced content for a show on Channel O, in-addition I have been working tirelessly on a beauty pageant that we have started in Bochum, Lesego Mahlomotja(Head of Admin) and I have been working on bringing Miss Bochum to life which will be a vehicle that is driving force for social change in rural areas around Bochum. My journey in the entertainment industry has been challenging but equally rewarding; I have worked for MTV, MTV Base & BET Africa. Entertainment industry it’s filled with uncertainness, you come into the industry naĂ¯ve; thinking your shot to success is going to be an easy one but then you become humbled in a split of a second when you realize that everyone is on the same level and they are putting more work as you. Every challenge was a learning curve for me; challenges now excite me. Every industry comes with challenges and entertainment industry is not different to the others: Sometimes you have to deal with difficult guests, sometimes you have to juggle between roles, furthermore there are challenges which can be regarded as overarching ones: Stereotypes attached to work ethic of women. Entertainment industry is reckoned as male-dominated industry, so I tried to step out of that space to create work that is woman-based hence I am presenter of a show known as Chit-chat which is more about women; the good work that they do for the communities, their achievements and their careers. What kept me sane in the industry is the understanding of why I am there, reading books, exercising, and my resort to prayer. There’s a lot happening in entertainment industry, so one must maintain clear head, what l can say to someone looking up to me: There’s no shortcut to this, you have to work extremely hard, be persistent, consistent, be able to market yourself on social medias, be able to network and always trust in God
