“I NOTICED THAT PLAYERS LACK KNOWLEDGE ABOUT INJURIES AND PREVENTION STRATEGIES”,Dennies Maja who’s a physiotherapist at Sekhukhune football club chats with us.

Growing up playing football and studying wasn’t a rocket science because my parents afforded me much needed support. After finishing my matric I went to study physiotherapy at SEFAKO MAKGATHO university. During my stay at the university l developed so much passion in sports physiotherapy, and I started volunteering with supervision at SUPERSPORT, HIGHLANDS PARK and MAMELODI SUNDOWNS. I worked myself to death in order to break into PSL level as a young physiotherapist. Academically I am doing my Masters in Neurology and Neurosurgery with University of Witwatersrand(dissertation). I am currently working a with Sekhukhune united football club as their physiotherapist and running a private practice which is based in Tembisa hospital view (DMPHYSIOTHERAPY SPORTS CLINIC AND WELLNESS). My private practice specializes in sports related injuries and other physiotherapy conditions; it is based in 1423 Fling Mazibuko drive Tembisa hospital view next to Tembisa hospital 1632. We offer services from assessments, sports injury reports, team injury analysis, all sporting activity injury assessments, treatment, and rehabilitation for all kinds of injuries. Our main goal is to start a workshop about sports injury prevention and management strategies to all South African players, I noticed that most players lack knowledge about injuries and prevention strategies which increases their stay into the game of football. As independent practice we’re currently looking for sponsors to fund this workshop which will be year at the end of season around July. We are looking forward to seeing players, technical teams, and management coming on board to take the advantage of this workshop. For one to become a physiotherapist, you are required to have good marks in Maths and Physical science. It’s a four-year course offered in medical universities, and you will graduate with BSC Honors in Physiotherapy.
