Hloka Ramoloetji Stephney, a 22-year-old from Ga-Mphahlele Mashite, a Crochet Designer, a Bcom Economics graduate and a third year Law student at the University of Limpopo.
Lockdown was a blessing in disguise to me, while everyone was locked and down, my passion for crocheting was nurtured and ignited. At first things were difficult for me because I had no idea on how to, but I had someone to rely one. My mother offered me basic knowledge about crocheting but left like it wasn’t enough, then I embarked on my own research. I spent every minute of my breath trying to figure things out, and ultimately things came together. I started off by designing new-fangled things, designing for myself and my cousin. My designs caught fire on socials and people started placing orders. I was inspired by some damsel back in high school who turned a string into something of a shape and that somewhat evoked my zest. We all know the story of “Jack of all trades” right? My main challenge is having to balance my school and crocheting, the other challenges is knowledge gap, working with customers who do not their sizes, and lastly courier charges. My goal is to establish RSH crochet designs company worldwide to afford my customers access to my designs and offer employment to the less fortunate. I hope to see my work ascending success ladder and making impact to other’s lives. I wish to see youth becoming entrepreneurs and existing ones succeeding because entrepreneurship is our solution to economic growth more especially now because youth unemployment is one of the global challenges. The effort, passion and creativity are things which makes my designs to stand out.
