Muchemwa Sinkala, born in Zambia raised in Zimbabwe, graduate from Rhodes University in Grahamstown SA majoring in economics politics and journalism/ Content producer, Writer and a Director.
Youth are usually caught between living to impress and look cool. I think that’s one thing which hinders our progress, before doing anything you ought to evaluate if you are doing it to make you blissful or to impress others. I am a graduate from Rhodes University in Grahamstown SA majoring in economics politics and journalism.
After completion of my studies, I was offered a job as a Producer, Editor and a Presenter at a local Tv station here in Zambia, and all that evoked passion for fiction and entertainment industry and I had to embark on a new-fangled journey altogether. It wasn’t an easy task to break into that industry, through making connections and putting myself out there is how I shifted into fiction and entertainment.
Currently I am a writer for a Zambian telenovela Zuba which airs on Zambezi Magic. I have also worked on other Tv shows for the channel like umutenge and currently working on few reality shows for the channel. I have also worked on season 01 of a DSTV honey channel shows mon vs wife Zambia, wawu that’s my dress Zambia & yes ndio beenie Zambia as a Content producer and Script writer.
I am inspired by my family conversations, observing people or circumstances, dreams, art and traveling. My family keeps me sane, excising time from time, taking time out, reading and prayer. Highlights of my itinerary has to be my directorial debut on Tikula.
I think what can be done to reduce youth unemployment rate is our countries investing in entrepreneurship programs for youth, skills and training. We can’t all become bankers but is only fair for our countries to afford us platforms for learning skills such carpentry, marketing and selling our products to masses for us to sustain our business. I think that is lacking in all SADC countries.
To my fellow peers I would say, stay true to what you believe in and keep pushing yourself to get what you want. Don’t easily give up, but also be open to new opportunities and try things differently this time.
